Your Fish List
Is there local fish that's high in omega 3?

Q I know that salmon, sardines and tuna are high in omega 3 fatty acids, but can you tell me what local fish has high omega 3 levels? I want to make sure that my daughter gets the maximum benefits of the fish I serve at mealtimes.
Suzanne D’Silva, Jalan Tua Kong

A Most fish have omega 3 fatty acids. Other foods include eggs, flax seeds and walnuts.  You should serve a variety of fish during meals and avoid serving only one type of fish. Your child needs a variety of vitamins and nutrients to grow and develop optimally.

This question is answered by Dr Low Kah Tzay, a consultant paediatrician and child development specialist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
