How do I make the most of a PTC?

Q Any tips on how my husband and I can best prepare for a productive parent-teacher conference (PTC) at my child’s school?

A You can:
1. Make a list of the feedback you would like to give the preschool, such as how your child feels about the preschool, teachers, friends and activities.
2. Usually, a PTC lasts only 15 to 20 minutes, so keep the focus on your child and try getting to know as much as you can about your child’s educational goals, needs and progress.
3. Keep an open mind. Listen to the teachers first and do not get defensive.
4. Keep the conversation two-way - tell the teacher about your child’s home experiences and behaviour and also share information about your life at home.
