Ghaangothree Vegetarian Restaurant - a little slice of heaven
Kids will dig the chaats which can be custom-made to suit young tastebuds
By Jacqueline Tan
Besides dosai and vegetarian samosas, Ghaangothree also offers 32 versions of India's yummy street food called chaat ($3 to $4.50), as well as milkshakes, lassi, juices and egg-free ice creams.
The kids will dig the chaats (which means "to lick" in Hindi). These can be custom made to suit young tastebuds.
They are usually made from chickpeas, puffed rice, potato patties, fresh ginger, toasted lentils, crackers and doused in yoghurt, fresh cilantro, tamarind sauce and sprinkled with masala.
The ultimate treat? The dessert faloodah ($5.80), a rainbow concoction of fresh fruits, jelly, ice cream, vermicelli, nuts and basil seeds topped with chocolate and strawberry sauces.
Dig into the aloo tikki channa, a moist potato cutlet covered in piping hot chickpea curry. Don't miss the Indo-Chinese dishes ($3.50 to $5) either. Try the gobi manchurian or cauliflower lightly coated in batter and then stir fried with green peppers, chillies and onions in a sweet, spicy sauce.
