Paid Maternity Leave
Government Paid Maternity Leave
Working mothers (both employees and self-employed) who gave birth to their first to fourth child will be eligible for Government-Paid Maternity Leave scheme.
For mothers who are employees, they will be eligible for paid maternity leave from her employer for the first to fourth confinement. The employer will pay the mother the normal salary for the duration of the maternity leave and then claim reimbursement from the Government. The amount of reimbursement from the Government is as shown below.

For the first and second confinement, the reimbursement of the additional 4 weeks is subject to a maximum of $10,000 (including CPF contributions). For the third and fourth confinement, the Government will fund the full 12 weeks of salary, subject to a maximum of $30,000 (including CPF contributions). The benefits for self-employed mothers from the Government are the same as that for employed mothers.
