Nine Great Things About Being Pregnant
Oh yes, being pregnant does have its perks
There are great things to shout about while pregnant. Medical studies have proven that having a baby can reduce a woman's risk of ovarian cancer by as much as 40 percent and the more often you carry a baby to full-term, the less likely you are to develop breast or colon cancer.
Apart from this excellent medical facts, below are more reasons to sing for joy:
1. CLEAVAGE - YEAH, BABY!
Their cleavage is one thing that most pregnant women shout about. It's amazing what happens to your breasts when sperm attaches itself to egg.
Your breast grows as your milk ducts and milk-producing cells multiply. Imagine that, no wonder bras and no silicone implants. This is one instant boob job that won't cost you anything.
2. PERFECT HAIR & NAILS
You can toss your hair moisturisers and hair shine serums aside, at least until after you give birth. Pregnancy will do wonders to your hair; the hormones will make it stronger, healthier and more shiny than usual.
Your pregnancy-induced metabolism will also affect your nails, in a positive way. The worst case of bitten nails will grow into super strong talons. So, drum your fingers when you go to the nail bar.
3. HEALTH NUT
Most pregnant mothers know that they shouldn't smoke, drink too much alcohol or eat junk food excessively. But realistically, knowing and doing are two different things. But when you realise that whatever you put in your mouth goes into your baby's as well, it's easy not to succumb to your usual vice. Keep this up and maybe this lifestyle change will carry on well until after baby's born.
4. PRIORITY SEATING
Get into the MRT or bus during the busiest of hours and you're guaranteed a seat near the door!
At least, this is the theory. If you do come across any unhelpful passenger who pretends he doesn't see your bulging belly, you can always do the "hand-over-your mouth" trick that says 'I'm about to throw up' and voilà! There is a seat for you.
5. TIME OFF WORK
If you have antenatal appointments, your allowed to take time off for that. These appointments extend beyond the normal ultrasound scans and monthly check-ups. You are also allowed time off if your gynae recommends you take relaxation of pre-natal exercise courses.
6. BYE-BYE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Isn't this just any woman's fantasy, to not worry about embarrassing leaks, scouring for tampons in your bag and nasty cramps? Well, when you're pregnant, you can do without all of this for a whole 40 weeks. And not having your period means, obviously, that you can do without any form of contraception. Don't worry about ruining the romantic mood by having to look for a condom in the dark. Your sex life may even break through the sex-o-meter.
7. MOOD SWINGS? IT'S JUST THE HORMONES!
The good thing about being pregnant is that you can blame your hormones for any mood you're in. If you're happy and your cheeks are rosy, blame the hormones.
If you're in a foul mood and shouts at everybody at home and at work, again, point your fingers at the hormones. Nothing is your fault when you're pregnant; your pregnancy hormones are messing up your feelings.
8. SHOP, SHOP & SHOP
Nothing to wear because your bulging tummy won't allow you to squeeze into your sexy tank top? Your size 26 jeans are too tight for your tummy? Well, don't despair because for once you have a reason to go shopping.
No longer are maternity wear dowdy, you can doll yourself up in the latest modern maternity fashion. When you're taken care of, don't forget to also shop for the baby…
9. EVERYONE'S A FRIENDLY NEIGHBOUR
The more your pregnancy shows, the more friendly people are. They will smile at you for no reason and make friendly conversations with you. Bask in the limelight for 40 weeks. After all, you've got a human being growing inside of you.
